Some people are fucking thick. Depression is not something that you can snap out of it - it’s not something that people choose whether to get depressed or not. It’s an illness and it’s real. There’s nothing rational about it and for the love of God, stop saying that those who suffers depression should get a grip and stop being a coward because Yyu obviously have no clue at all.
Do you know how hard it is to wake up every morning, feeling like the whole world closing in and feeling like you’re losing every inch of sanity left inside you? Do you understand how great the struggle to fight the personal demon that continue to torture you in waking and sleeping state?
Fortunately for some people who suffered from depression, they could pick themselves up. Not everyone can because it’s not like switching a light on and off. But with the right support, patience, time and genuine kindness, the depression can be overcome. Not the ‘pull yourself together’ crap because things are not black and white as people love to think so And more importantly, stop being judgemental - if you think depression is ridiculous, have you ever think for a second how it feels for those who suffer it? How horrendous it is, how worthless it can make you feel that sometimes dying seems like a better option because you’re afraid of living.
I unfollowed some tumblr today here because their lack of empathy toward depression, and I’m not feeling sorry at all. Stop with the judgemental and yes, suicide is horrible and wrong but who the fuck are you to judge them? Have you ever think that there’s always a probability that someone who suffer with depression read about your uninformed crap and feeling even low because according to you - they are week, coward and selfish.
Stop with shaming, there are millions out there who suffers from depression. Give them the comfort of knowing that they are not worthless or beyond saving. Let them know that they are not alone, that you’re understood and willing to help. Let them know that they can win the battle against their personal demon. Let them know that you care.
